### Overview
The Technical Mount is a visually dynamic and effective position in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, primarily used as an intermediary step between traditional Mount and various submission opportunities or escapes. While it doesn't have a widely recognized Japanese name, its functionality and utility in controlling an opponent offer a strategic advantage during transitions or when setting up submissions.
### Position(s)
- **Mount**
### Step-by-Step Instructions
#### Establishing Technical Mount
1. **From Traditional Mount:**
- Begin in the Mount position, sitting on your opponent's torso with your knees pinching near their sides.
2. **Control the Opponent:**
- Utilize a strong cross-face with your right hand to control their head.
- With your left hand, control their far arm by pinching their elbow or bicep against their body.
3. **Transition to Technical Mount:**
- Bring your left knee up, sliding it past your opponent's head so that the sole of your left foot is placed flat on the mat, near their shoulder or ribcage.
- Simultaneously, your right leg should remain in contact with their hip or floating above the mat for balance.
- Your weight should shift, ensuring stability and your torso remaining over the centerline of their chest.
4. **Maintain Balance & Control:**
- Make sure your left foot is firm and planted to prevent any bridge or buck attempts from your opponent.
- The right knee should be close to your opponent's chest, allowing control but enabling flexibility.
#### Utilizing Technical Mount
5. **Submissions from Technical Mount:**
- **Armbar Opportunity**: If the opponent attempts to push your knee off, take advantage by trapping their arm and transitioning to a mounted armbar.
- **Chokes & Back Takes**: With the control over their arm and head, you can set up an Ezekiel or some form of gi-based choke, or transition to Back Mount if they turn.
6. **Controlling the Opponent:**
- Keep your grips firm and ensure the weight distribution is constantly pressuring them, making it hard for them to escape the position.
### Tips & Considerations
- **Weight Distribution:** Constantly pay attention to where your weight is to prevent easy sweeps or escapes by the opponent.
- **Stay Active:** Keep your hips mobile to adjust and respond dynamically to your opponent's defensive movements.
- **Transitions:** Be ready to capitalize on the opponent's attempts to escape by transitioning smoothly between submissions and other controlling positions.
