The **Twister** is a submission technique in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that primarily targets the spine and is often used in no-gi grappling. While its origins can be tied to catch wrestling, it was popularized in BJJ by Eddie Bravo. Known for its effectiveness, the Twister is both a finishing submission and an excellent pressure tactic. It's most commonly initiated from the truck position.

**Starting Position: Back Mount with Truck**
#### **Step-by-Step Instructions:**
1. **Attaining the Truck Position:**
- Begin from the back mount with both hooks in.
- Focus on isolating one of the opponent's legs by using your own. If you trap the right leg, guide it between your legs and secure it using a triangle lock with your feet. This creates a wedge between the opponent’s legs.
2. **Isolating the Opponent's Shoulders:**
- Release your seatbelt grip. Transition your upper body slightly towards the side of the arm that’s opposite the trapped leg.
- You want the opponent's top shoulder to be exposed slightly towards the ground. Use the arm that's closest to the floor to underhook the opponent’s far-side arm across their head, grabbing your wrist with your other hand in a gable grip.
3. **Setting Up for the Twister:**
- As you're shelving the opponent's arm over their head, use your legs to maintain control of their lower body.
- Start turning your torso in the direction of the exposed arm. This twist allows you to catch their head using your free arm, pulling it towards their isolated shoulder.
4. **Finishing the Twister:**
- Intensify the twist by pulling the opponent's head closer using both hands, and rotate your chest against their back in a downward motion.
- Increase the twisting pressure by applying a tight grip and rotating your hips and shoulders in harmony. This action places immense torque on the opponent’s spine.
5. **Submitting the Opponent:**
- With pressure applied, your opponent is likely to tap due to the discomfort caused by the twisting spinal lock. Release all grips immediately upon submission to prevent injury.
