### Ezekiel Choke **Overview:** The Ezekiel Choke, known for its unique use of the practitioner's own sleeve to execute a stranglehold on the opponent, is an efficient and versatile submission technique. Commonly initiated from top positions such as mount or side control, it can also be surprisingly applied from within the opponent's guard. ### Step-by-Step Instructions: 1. **Achieving the Top Position** - Begin from a dominant top position like mount or side control. Ensure you have stable control over your opponent, balancing your weight to prevent any sweep or escape attempts. 2. **Prepare the Lapel** - Use one hand to quickly tug at the sleeve of your opposite arm, which will be used to encircle the opponent’s neck. Ensure the cuff is accessible and loose enough to grip. 3. **Slide the Arm Across** - Take the arm that manipulated the sleeve and slide it under your opponent’s head from the inside (between their head and shoulder). - **Note:** Ensure your forearm is tight against their neck. 4. **Insert Your Opposite Hand** - With your free hand, reach across and insert that hand inside the cuff of the sleeve around your opponent's neck, creating a circle with your arms. 5. **Executing the Choke** - Squeeze and pull your sleeve-grasping hand closer to tighten the choke. Simultaneously, use your free forearm, applying pressure across the neck firmly yet smoothly. - Keep a steady base by maintaining a strong posture, often lowering your head and chest, adding further control. 6. **Maintaining Dominance** - Continue to monitor your position, compressing the neck steadily. Remain wary of counterattacks until the tap is secured or the opponent submits. ### Key Tips: - **Stay Calm and Collected:** Don’t rush the process. Ensure every movement is smooth and with precision. - **Control is Key:** Maintain constant top control, making it difficult for the opponent to interrupt your progress. - **Experiment with Angles:** Small adjustments in angle can vastly enhance the effectiveness of the choke. ---
