### Armbar from Guard
The armbar from the closed guard is a fundamental submission technique in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It involves isolating and hyperextending the opponent's arm, creating pressure against the elbow joint until a tap is achieved. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to execute this technique.
#### Starting Position: Closed Guard
### Instructions
1. **Control the Posture**
- While in closed guard, grip your opponent's sleeve or wrist using your same-side hand.
- With your opposite hand, secure a grip behind your opponent’s head or collar. This disrupts their posture and maintains control.
2. **Create Angles and Isolate the Arm**
- Using your hand gripping the sleeve or wrist, pull the opponent's arm across your chest towards the opposite side.
- Simultaneously, use your legs to pivot your body perpendicular to your opponent—your hips should now be turning outward, with your opposite side rotated slightly under them.
- Use the grip behind their head to aid this rotation.
3. **Secure the Arm**
- Release the opponent's head and quickly reach for their triceps or shoulder. Pull their trapped arm high, past your middle.
- Utilize your nearest leg to climb up over the opponent's back, pressing your calf against their upper back. Your other foot should be on their hip to help maintain angle and pressure.
4. **Lock the Opponent**
- Swing your other leg over their face, sliding it down until your ankle hooks by their neck, with back of your calf touching their throat. This will trap their arm between your legs.
5. **Finish the Armbar**
- As you slide the leg over their face, clamp your knees together tightly to isolate their arm and control their escape attempts.
- Arch your hips up slowly to hyperextend the opponent's arm while maintaining control around their wrist.
- Should your opponent resist using their other hand to free the trapped arm, employ both your hands against their wrist to maintain control and pressure.
6. **Achieve the Tap**
- Increase the pressure slowly and consistently until your opponent taps in submission, thereby signaling the completion of the maneuver.
Ensure to perform the armbar with control to avoid injuring your training partner.
