### Technique Description: North-South Choke
The North-South Choke is a powerful submission technique popularized in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It leverages positional control and pressure to induce a choke, making it difficult for the opponent to escape. This technique suffocates the opponent by cutting off their air supply, utilizing the attacker's weight and positioning.

### Step-by-Step Instructions:
#### Positioning:
1. **Start in Side Control:**
- Establish firm side control over your opponent. Use your chest to maintain pressure, pinning your opponent to the mat.
2. **Transition to North-South Position:**
- Move your body towards the head of your opponent. Slide across your opponent's chest, circling your head over theirs to reach the north-south position.
- Ensure your hips stay low, keeping constant pressure on your opponent.
#### Applying the Choke:
3. **Secure the Neck:**
- As you align your body over theirs, reach underneath their shoulder with your arm that is closer to their head.
- Slide your forearm and hand around the back of their neck like a hook.
- Your hand should be palm up, making a hook grip on the far side of their neck.
4. **Place Your Torso Parallel to Their Body:**
- Position your torso parallel to your opponent's body, ensuring your chest stays close to theirs.
- Adjust your body so that your opponent's head rests on the solar plexus area of your chest, cutting off their breathing.
5. **Ensure Proper Tightness:**
- Drive your weight into your opponent through your chest while keeping your hips pinned low to the mat.
- Ideally, your opponent's shoulder and neck should sandwich your arm, creating a vice-like compression.
6. **Adjust Arm Placement for the Finish:**
- Pull your gripping hand in towards your body, tightening the noose around their neck.
- Simultaneously, walk your feet forward while extending your weight downward through your body.
7. **Apply the Choke:**
- Focus on compressing their airway with your upper chest and rib cage.
- Maintain pressure and a strong grip, adjusting as needed until the opponent taps or the choke elicits a clean submission.
