## Torreando Pass
The Torreando Pass, often referred to as the 'Bullfighter Pass', is a popular method for passing an opponent's guard in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This technique involves manipulating the guard player's legs to create an opening, followed by controlling the hips and moving to side control. It is effective against several types of guards, often utilized both in gi and no-gi scenarios.

### Technique Steps
1. **Establish an Open Guard Scenario:**
- You are in your opponent's open guard, and they are trying to control distance or pull you into a sweep or submission.
2. **Grip Control:**
- Secure a grip on both of your opponent's pant legs near the knees or by the shins.
- The grips and posture are crucial here — aim for strong grips while maintaining a low and solid base.
3. **Create an Angle & Push the Legs:**
- Step to your right or left, creating an angle outside of your opponent's hips.
- As you step to the side, push their legs away to the opposite direction, almost as if you are sweeping the ground.
- This motion should be similar to a **matador evading a charging bull**.
4. **Control the Hips:**
- Keep their legs pinned—this will prevent them from re-guarding.
- Drop your weight through your chest or shoulder onto their hips to maintain control moments after shifting the legs.
5. **Stepping Around:**
- Step around the opponent's legs towards their side.
- Simultaneously control their far hip with your knee or thigh and maintain a firm grip on their near side leg using your elbow.
6. **Secure Side Control:**
- As you step fully around, slide your body across their torso, aiming to place your chest against theirs.
- Transition to a classic side control position: maintain chest-to-chest contact, underhook their far arm, and secure their near-side head with your other arm.
7. **Anchor and Settle:**
- Once you've fully transitioned to side control, adjust your grip to ensure control and stop your opponent from regaining guard.
- Maintain pressure and stabilize before advancing or attacking with submissions.
### Tips for Success
- Keep a strong posture to prevent getting swept.
- Use the entire body to push your opponent's legs, not just your arms.
- Use the footwork to effectively create the angle and drive your motion direction.
- Properly manage your distance throughout the maneuver, staying out of range for hooks or submissions.
The Torreando Pass combines technique, strategy, and mobility to swiftly and effectively bypass an opponent's defenses, providing a smooth transition to a dominant side control position.
